LISBON FALLS — A two-story, cape-style house was destroyed by fire Saturday morning while no one was in the residence.

Lisbon Fire Deputy Chief Robert Robitaille called the fire in at 9:25 a.m. after the second floor of 2 Josephine St. was heavily involved. Before units could respond, the fire flashed to the first floor.

Robitaille said the fire was under control within the hour and was fully extinguished by 1 p.m., due to extensive overhaul.

The house is considered a total loss, according to Robitaille. The single-family home was insured.

Sabattus, Bowdoin, Lewiston and Durham fire departments also responded to the scene. Topsham and Brunswick covered the station.

The official cause of the fire is currently unknown. The Office of the State Fire Marshal will be investigating further on Monday.
