TURNER —Tuesday, Aug,30, at 6:30 p.m., singer-songwriter Kevin Libby & Co. will entertain at “Music for Mavis,” Tuesdays at the Gazebo, in Turner Center, Route 117, Mathew’s Way, right by the library, and across from The First Universalist Church of Turner Center.
Libby, a native son of Turner, grew up in a musical family, singing, playing, and gathering around the piano at home. Merle Haggard was the first country legend to capture his attention and remains a strong influence on his work to this day.
It is common to hear Libby open an act with “I’m going to sing some country songs now because I love country and that’s what I’m about.”
Libby embarked on a tour to support his new album, “Free Man Yet,” beginning with an album-release party at the Waterville Opera House on Oct. 3, 2015. “Free Man Yet” reflects a classic honky-tonk style and the seasoning and genuineness that can only come from life’s experiences.
Suggested donations are $5 to $10 to pay the musicians. FMI: call 754-0954.
