AUGUSTA — Island Soups Co. Inc. of Saint Albans, New York, is recalling six soups because of possible contamination with clostridium botulinum, a bacteria that can cause life-threatening illness or death, according to the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry.

The recalled soups are Gungo Peas Soup, Gungo Peas Soup No Meat, Red Peas Soup, Red Peas Soup No Meat, Mannish Water and Fish Soup.

All products have coded “best before” dates of July 2015 through June 2018.

Products were distributed through Internet website purchases.

To date there have been no confirmed reports of illness and injury related to these products.

Consumers should segregate and destroy any of the identified products, according to MDACF. Consumers with questions can call 917-991-6647 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
