PARIS — Karen Montanaro will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Celebration Barn Theater, 190 Stock Farm Road, South Paris.
She will explore the transformative power of creativity in her own life and how that can be applied to students in schools today.
She is a solo performer, an award-winning choreographer, and the innovator of “mime dance,” the fusion of two classical art forms. She studied ballet at the Cantarella School of Dance, the Ram Island Dance Center and on scholarship with the Joffrey Ballet School.
She danced professionally with the Ohio Ballet and the Darmstadt Opera Ballet in Germany. Upon moving back to the U.S., she danced principal roles with the Portland Ballet Co. For more than a decade, she toured and taught internationally with mime master Tony Montanaro. She tours the world with her one-woman show titled Tanzspiel.
Montanaro has been a teaching artist for the past 15 years, offering residencies in movement, mime and dance in public and private schools throughout the U.S.
Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors 60 and older, and $8 for children 17 and younger. All tickets are general admission, and members receive priority seating. Lobby and concessions open at 7 p.m. Purchasing tickets in advance is recommended.
