JAY — A memorial service honoring the life and lifetime of Aaron Newton of Peru was held Friday morning, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Road, Jay with the Rev. Ira Hall of the Bean’s Corner Baptist Church, Jay, officiating. Personal eulogies were given by his daughter, Alexis W. Newton and Brent D. Newton and Christopher A. Henry. A quartet from the Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church, Margaret Emery, Maggie Houlihan, Claire Tanner and Nancy Purinton, sang a special hymn, “I Was There To Hear Your Borning Cry.” At the conclusion of the service, per Aaron’s request, Navy CIS soundtrack of “Abby’s Song” from Kate’s funeral was played with the following five women strolling about with black lace parasols: Alexis W. Newton, Samantha E. Newton, Danielle E. Newton, Hannah E. Newton and Pamela Spaulding Newton. Following services, a reception was held at the Center hosted by the Women’s Fellowship of the Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church. Private family committal services will be held at the Knight Cemetery, Peru, in the near future.
