AUGUSTA — Marcus Reny of Greene was one of eight new troopers recently administered the oath of office with the Maine State Police.

Reny has been assigned to Troop B in Gray. He is a 2004 graduate of Leavitt Area High School and served in the U.S. Marines as a sergeant.

The new troopers completed 10 weeks of specialized training in state police policies and procedures at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro. That is in addition to the 18 weeks of training required for all Maine police officers. They will now team up with veteran troopers for 45 days before patrolling on their own.
