THORNDIKE — Alex Bessey scored in the opening half 4:34 remaining as Spruce Mountain edged Mount View 2-1 in field hockey action Thursday afternoon.

The Phoenix (6-2) scored again in the second half to make it 2-0.

The Mustangs (3-5) spoiled the shutout with 10:12 left to play in the game. Rachelle Ravin converted a pass from Brianna Tripp.

Goalie Alexis Bowman had six saves for Mount View, while keeper Sydney Shaffer turned back three to earn the win in net for Spruce Mountain.

Cony 1, Edward Little 0

AUGUSTA — Sophie Whitney scored five minutes into the second half to lift Cony to a 1-0 victory over Edward Little in field hockey action Thursday afternoon.

The Rams (5-2-2) dominated on offense with 11 shots to the Red Eddies’ (5-3-1) two shots on goal.

Goalie Delaney Morneau made 10 saves for Edward Little, while goalie Jacqueline Carlton defended two for the shutout win.

St. Dom’s 1, Sacopee Valley 0

HIRAM — Sophomore forward Caroline Johnson tipped a penalty corner into the upper corner of the cage with 7:16 remaining in regulation to lift St. Dom’s to a 1-0 victory over Sacopee Valley in field hockey action Thursday afternoon.

The Saints (5-2-1) and Hawks (2-5-1) played an intense effort for two halves. Kylie Leavitt assisted Johnson’s goal.

Goalie McKenzie Cormier made 10 saves for Sacopee Valley, while goalie Abby Slonina turned back 10 shots to earn the win in net for St. Dom’s.

Skowhegan 4, Oxford Hills 0

PARIS — Julia Steeves score two goals to lead Skowhegan to a 4-0 shutout victory over Oxford Hills in field hockey action Thursday afternoon.

The Indians led 1-0 at the half. Steeves notched a goal in each half.

Goalie Anna Huff made 15 saves for Oxford Hills, while goalkeeper Leah Savage fought off 13 to earn the win in net for Skowhegan.

Messalonskee 7, Lewiston 0

OAKLAND — After only leading 1-0 at halftime, Messalonskee scored six times in the second half to run away from Lewiston for a 7-0 win in a KVAC field hockey contest.

Lydia Dexter had a hat trick and an assist to lead the Eagles. Ally Corbette, Megan Quirion and Saige Knight also scored.

Julia Vigue made two saves for the shutout, while Ashley Cronkhite made 18 saves for Lewiston.

Boys’ soccer

Carrabec 5, Dirigo 0

DIXFIELD — Dylan Willette scored a pair of goals to lead Carrabec to a 5-0 victory over Dirigo in boys’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.

The Cobras (6-1) led 3-0 at the half. Cole Rugh, Cade Chapman and Dustin Crawford rounded out the scoring.

Goalie Justin Grignon made 15 saves for the Cougars (0-7), while goalie Seth Padelford turned away four to earn the win in net for Carrabec.

Lisbon 2, Wintrhop 1

LISBON — Ryley Austin executed a 22-yd direct kick to lift Lisbon to a 2-1 victory over Wintrhop in boys’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.

The Greyhounds (4-1-1) played a man down in the second half, but held defensively. D.J. Douglass scored for Lisbon in the first half.

Goalie Jackson Ladd made six saves for the Ramblers (0-5), while goalkeeper Jonah Sautter prevented four to earn the win in net for Lisbon.

Mountain Valley 4, Wiscasset 0

RUMFORD — Senior forward Grace Briggs scored two goals and an assist as Mountain Valley grabbed a commanding 4-0 victory over Wiscasset in girls’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.

The Falcons (3-4) executed well down the middle and posted four goals in the second half. Julia Perry contributed two goals.

Goalie Lauren Sterling made nine saves for the Wolverines (3-4-1), while goalies Lindsey Gordon and Lily Souza combined for 10 saves in the winning effort.

Madison 1, Oak Hill 0

MADISON — Sidney LeBlanc scored the lone goal in the 78th minute to lift Madison to a 1-0 triumph over Oak Hill in girls’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (7-1) outshot the Radiers (5-2-1) by a margin of 26-12.

Goalie Anna Dodge made 19 saves for Oak Hill, while goalie Lauren Hay repelled 10 shots to earn the win in net for Madison.

Lake Region 5, Poland 1

POLAND — Junior forward Lauren Jakobs recorded a hat trick as Lake Region doused Poland 5-1 in WMC girls’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.

Sophomore striker Leya Harvey converted a pass from Katelyn Dufour in the second half for the only Knights’ (1-6) goal, spoiling the Lake Region shutout opportunity.

Goalie Mdison Simard made 13 saves for Poland, while Madison Rock redirected six to earn the win in net for the Lakers (3-4).

Skowhegan 2, Oxford Hills 1

PARIS — Sydney Ames found the back of the net twice to lift Skowhegan to a 2-1 victory over Oxford Hills in girls’ soccer action Thursday aftetnoon.

The Indians (1-5) and Vikings (0-6) were scoreless at the half.

Ceceila Dieterich evened the score at 1-1 midway through the second half for Oxford Hills.

Goalie Krystin Paine had 10 saves for Oxford Hills, while goalie Amber Merry diverted 10 to earn the win in net for Skowhegan.

Old Orchard Beach 4, St. Dom’s 0

OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Maegan Halle had a hat trick to pace Old Orchard Beach to a 4-0 victory over St. Dominic Academy in a girls’ scoccer match on Thursday,

Payje LeClerc opened the scoring for the Seagulls (1-5-1).

Tiffany LeClair made four saves for the victory while Abby Castonguay stopped three shots for St. Dom’s (1-6).

Winthrop 2, Lisbon 1

WINTHROP — Anna Willey scored her first career goal to break the 1-1 deadlock in the second half as Winthrop defeated Lisbon in an MVC girls’ soccer contest.

Carly Drischler notched an assist on the goal.

Emma Houle opened the game scoring on a penalty kick to give the Greyhounds (4-1-2) a 1-0 lead. Winthrop (3-3-1) tied it later in the first half as goalkeeper Shie Smith converted on a PK of her own.

The Greyhounds outshot the Ramblers 9-8.
