PITTSFIELD — A Manchester man is facing several charges after being clocked at 146 miles per hour on Interstate 95 on Wednesday, according to police.
State trooper Lt. Bruce Scott was on patrol when a dispatcher informed him a “blue sports car” was travelling at a high rate of speed heading north at mile marker 135.
Scott then spotted a car matching that description, according to a State Police account on the agency’s Instagram page. His radar indicated the car was travelling at 146 miles per hour in a 70-mile-per-hour zone.
Police said the driver was Tyler Barrows, 18, of Manchester. He was arrested and summonsed for criminal speeding, failure to provide proof of insurance and failure to provide proof of inspection.
In a statement, Scott, who heads up the Traffic Safety Division of the Maine State Police, noted that in his entire career in law enforcement, he had never clocked someone travelling that fast.
