CHESTERVILLE — Selectmen have accepted several monetary donations that will be used to buy road work equipment and software.

Board Chairman Guy Iverson said Anne Lambert donated the money she had earned while serving on the Board of selectmen to the Highway Department. Lambert recently resigned her position.

Iverson said that money would be used to buy a shoulder box, which attaches to a dump truck and distributes gravel along the shoulders of newly paved or repaved roads.

It helps preserve the road and makes it safer, Iverson said.

Resident Kathy Gregory donated $40 and Bruce A. Manzer Inc. donated $200. That money will be used to buy a software program that will keep information on town signs, roads and culverts, among other things, in one spot.

No conditions were placed on the donations, Iverson said. Funds not used will be put in the general account.

In other business, Iverson said Steve Welch and Tiffany Estabrook have taken out nomination papers for vacant selectmen seats. The election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8.
