PORTLAND — A New Hampshire woman was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court for two armed bank robberies in New Hampshire and Maine, according to U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II.

Crystal Dufault, 34, of Manchester, New Hampshire, was sentenced by Chief Judge Nancy Torresen to three years in prison and five years of supervised release, according to a news release from the court.

Dufault pleaded guilty Jan. 20 to armed robbery of Franklin Savings Bank in Franklin, New Hampshire, on Aug. 14, 2015, and of University Credit Union in Portland on Sept. 4, 2015, according to the news release.

Dufault and Joseph Richards brandished a pellet gun and stole $13,240 from the bank and $12,308 from the credit union. Richards was sentenced to 15 years in prison and five years of supervised release on Sept. 14, the release said.

On July 28, Neil West Sr. of Portland, the getaway driver in the robberies, was found guilty by a jury in U.S. District Court of armed bank robbery and conspiracy to commit bank robbery.

Delahanty praised the partnership of all departments involved.

“These armed bank robberies were quickly solved because local, state and federal law enforcement agencies across two states worked closely together,” he said.

The joint investigation was conducted by the Franklin and Manchester (New Hampshire) police departments; the Freeport, Portland, Lewiston, Old Orchard Beach and Saco police departments; the Maine State Police; and the Southern Maine Gang Task Force.
