RUMFORD — The Greyhounds took a one-goal lead in the first half and held on to edge Mountain Valley 1-0 in Mountain Valley Conference boys’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.
The Falcons (3-7-1) led 6-2 in corner kicks, but the Greyhounds (7-1-2) outshot their opponents by a margin of 11-9.
Goalie Jacob Beauchesne made six saves for Mountain Valley, while goalkeeper Jonah Sautter prevented 10 to earn the win in net for Lisbon.
Monmouth 5, Telstar 0
BETHEL — Junior striker Avery Pomerleau recorded four goals as Monmouth galloped to a 5-0 victory over Telstar in boys’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.
The Mustangs outshot the Rebels 21-6 in the matchup. Senior midfielder Travis Hartford rounded out the scoring for Monmouth.
Hall-Dale 1, Mt. Abram 0
FARMINGDALE — Tyler Nadeau netted the game-winning goal with 23 minutes to play in regulation to lift Hall-Dale past Mt. Abram 1-0 in MVC boys’ soccer action Thursday.
Josh Nadeau assisted on the game’s lone goal.
Ashtyn Abbott turned back two shots for the Bulldogs (7-2-2), while Xavier Romanoski turned aside seven in the loss for the Roadrunners (4-5-2).
Girls’ soccer
Brunswick 4, Edward Little 0
BRUNSWICK — Kiera Wolpow and Maeve Arthur scored two goals each as Brunswick notched a 4-0 victory over Edward Little in KVAC girls’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.
The Red Eddies (7-3-1) had a shot off the crossbar in the first half, but had trouble finding the back of the net.
The Dragons (8-3) scored two goals in the first five minutes of the second half, and added insurance markers down the stretch.
Goalie Taylor Depot made 11 saves for Edward Little, while goalkeeper Beth Labbe stopped eight to earn the win in net for Brunswick.
Lewiston 2, Messalonskee 2
OAKLAND — Lewiston scored first in both halves, but Messalonskee countered before the close of each stanza as the teams deadlocked in a 2-2 tie in girls’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.
Maddy Foster registered a goal and an assist for the Blue Devils (6-3-2), while McKenna Brodeau also recorded a goal and an assist for the Eagles (6-4-1).
Goalie Kallie May made nine saves for Lewiston, while goalkeeper Brianne Benecke turned away five for Messalonskee.
Lisbon 1, Mountain Valley 1
LISBON — Lisbon and Mountain Valley battled to a 1-1 tie in girls’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.
Junior Emma Houle scored off a header from a free kick by senior Chandler Riordan in the first half for the Greyhounds (6-2-3).
The Falcons (3-4-4) tied the score 1-1 on an unassisted tally from Alexis Robbins.
Goalie Abigayle Brackley made nine saves for Mountain Valley, while goalkeeper Ali Sult fended off three for Lisbon.
Traip 3, St. Dom’s 0
AUBURN — Emma Auclair scored a pair of goals to help the Traip Academy Rangers to a 3-0 victory over St. Dominic Academy on Thursday.
Beti Stevens scored on a penalty kick to cap off the scoring for the Rangers.
Sommer Huntress made two saves for the shutout while Abby Castonguay stopped six shots for St. Dom’s.
Field hockey
Oxford Hills 3, Edward Little 1
AUBURN — Erin Morton scored a pair of goals on assists by Emma Davidson off penalty corner tries — one each in the first and second half — to lift Oxford Hills to a 3-1 win over Edward Little in a KVAC field hockey contest Thursday.
Alicia Albert had the other Vikings’ strike, while Liz Bellman gave the Red Eddies a 1-0 lead early in the game with her goal. Anna Huff stopped five shots to earn the win.
St. Dom’s 3, McAuley/Waynflete 0
PORTLAND — Junior midfielder Callie Samson scored a goal and added an assist as St. Dom’s coasted to a 3-0 victory over Waynflete in WMC field hockey action Thursday afternoon.
The Saints (9-2-1) led by one at the half. Kylie Leavitt contributed two assists for St. Dom’s.
Goalie Kiera MacWhinney pushed aside 19 shots for the Flyers (0-12), while goalkeeper Abby Slonina earned the win in net without the need to make a single save for St. Dom’s.
