LEWISTON — The Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce will host the next seminar in its Finance Matters Series.
It’s set from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the chamber’s conference room at 415 Lisbon St.
The topic will be how to get the best net profit when buying or selling your business or professional practice. The seminar will be facilitated by Herbert K. Daroff, JD, CFP, financial services representative, MetLife Securities; and Salvatore Bonetti, ChFC, CRPS, AIF, financial services representative, investment adviser representative, Baystate Financial.
Whether buying or selling a privately held business or professional practice, people need to recognize that every deal has three parties: buyer, seller and government. Most deals benefit the government, and most of the time the selling owner is also a retiring key employee.
Attendees will learn how to use employee benefits instead of employer benefits. The buyer’s price and the seller’s price are usually very wide apart, and attendees will learn how to bring the buyer and seller closer together to make the deal work.
The cost is $25 for members and $50 for nonmembers. Registration is available at www.LAMetroChamber.com.
