AUBURN — Firefighters were called to Mill Street on Thursday night for a report of smoke pouring from a three-story warehouse.

Crews from Auburn and Lewiston went to 240 Mill St. at about 7:30 p.m. where they found smoke coming from all floors of the roughly 140- by 40-foot building. Within minutes, the blaze was reported under control.

There were no reports of injuries. The fire itself was small and limited to the first floor, fire officials said.

The warehouse, which formerly housed a roofing company, is unoccupied. The cause of the blaze was not immediately known.

An Auburn police detective and an investigator from the State Fire Marshal’s Office remained at the scene later Thursday night.
