There were very few entries for last week’s mystery photo of a concrete elephant on Minot Avenue in Auburn in front of American Concrete. It was made from a mold the company’s former owner, John Snowe, purchased, evidently hoping the elephants would be a big seller. Few were made, but Pam Brooks of Auburn knows where one went. Her former husband once worked at American Concrete and had Dan Footer make one for his parents. According to Brooks, “it even had blue marbles for eyes.” The one on Minot Avenue once had aluminum tusks, but those were stolen a number of years ago. Brooks is the winner of a $20 gift card from Hannaford Supermarkets.
