RANGELEY — First-half goals by Mary-Page Sweeney and Oliva Pye were enough for fourth-seeded Rangeley to advance in the Class D South girls’ soccer playoffs with a 3-1 victory over No. 5 Vinalhaven.

Maxi Gatcomb added the insurance goal for the Lakers (8-4-3), who advance to face top-seeded Richmond in the semifinals at 3 p.m. on Friday.

Gatcomb and Pye both had assists for the Lakers. Amber Morrill made six saves in net for Rangeley.

Deja Daugherty scored the lone goal for Vinalhaven (4-8-2), while Marina Davis made 12 saves in net.

Buckfield 4, Greater Portland Christian 1

BUCKFIELD — Kali Litchfield set the tone early for Buckfield, netting a pair of goals in the first half to lead the Bucks to a 4-1 win over Greater Portland Christian in a Class D South girls’ soccer quarterfinal Wednesday.

Litchfield scored her first without help, and added her second on an assist from Deja Bennett.

Katy Henderson and Hannah Shields added second-half goals for Buckfield (9-6-0), which dominated the game from start to finish.

Rachel Warren netted the lone goal for the Lions (4-8-2), and keeper Clairette Kirezi turned back 12 shots in the loss.

Yarmouth 3, Gray-NG 0

YARMOUTH — Hannah Merrill found the back of the net late in the first half and Sara D’Appolonia and Gretchen Barbera followed suit in the second to pace Yarmouth to a 3-0 win over Gray-New Gloucester in the teams’ Class B girls’ quarterfinal soccer match Wednesday.

Katie Clemmer added the lone Yarmouth assist, and Clippers keeper Meredith Lane needed only two saves.

Gray-New Gloucester keeper Chelsea Davis turned back 14 shots in the loss for the Patriots.

Searsport 1, Greenville 0

GREENVILLE — Karigen Coffin scored the only goal of the afternoon to send sixth-seeded Searsport to a quarterfinal win over the No. 3 Greenville Lakers in a Class D South matchup.

With the upset win, Searsport will now face Buckfield in a Class D South semifinal later in the week.

Brooklyn Alberts made 12 saves on 12 shots for the Vikings (6-9). Halle Pelletier made 3 saves on 5 shots for Greenville (7-7-1).
