LIVERMORE FALLS — A pedestrian was hospitalized after he and a police cruiser collided on Park Street Friday night, according to a news release from Androscoggin County Chief Deputy William Gagne.
Livermore Falls police officer Troy Reed was traveling southbound on Park Street at 11:55 p.m. Friday when Joseph Slaver, 24, of Livermore Falls entered the roadway and struck the passenger side of the cruiser, Gagne said.
Slaver was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by North Star Ambulance, Gagne said. He remains hospitalized.
Gagne said an outside law enforcement agency was called in to conduct the investigation, which is standard protocol because a police officer and cruiser were involved.
Deputies from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by a crash reconstructionist from the Lewiston Police Department, are investigating.
The Jay Police Department and Livermore Falls Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
