LEWISTON — Community members gathered Thursday at 940 Lisbon St. to celebrate the opening of Caribbean Life Grocery & Gift Shop. Owner Sophia Hewitt-Bailey, flanked by friends, family and representatives of the business community, cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Caribbean Life Grocery & Gift Shop focuses on specialty foods representing the rich and varying tastes found around the island region that includes Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic. The store offers an array of jerk sauces and marinades, fresh produce, including breadfruit and yellow yams, and specialty coffee.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call the store at 207-241-2888.
