PARIS — Longtime County Commissioner Steven Merrill defeated Democratic opponent Michael McKinney of Hiram at Tuesday’s polls, with all but two towns reporting.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Merrill was leading McKinney, 5,439 to 4,677.
Stow and Sweden had yet to report their vote counts. Once reported, the result will be official.
Merrill has served as an Oxford County commissioner for 22 years.
He grew up in South Paris, graduated from Oxford Hills High School, and attended the University of Maine in Orono, where he majored in business administration.
Merrill lives in Norway with his wife, Carol.
