HEBRON — The Hebron Academy field hockey team captured the MAISAD championship by defeating Kents Hill 1-0 on Wednesday.

The MAISAD title is the Lumberjacks’ first since 2014.

The game’s only goal came with less than two minutes remaining in the first half when Hebron’s Maggie Kinasewich put one home.

Kents Hill ramped up the pressure in the second half, outshooting the Lumberjacks and earning seven penalty corners, but Hebron’s defense shut down every offensive threat it faced.

Lumberjacks goalkeeper Casey Chizmazia made 14 saves, most coming in the second half.

Hebron 5, Kents Hill 0

HEBRON — Four different players registered multiple points Wednesday and a stout Hebron defense allowed only one shot to reach its keepers as the Lumberjacks downed Kents Hill 5-0 in a MAISAD semifinal match.

Eliza Quinones led the charge with a pair of goals and an assist, Sophie List and Aliza Beaudin added a goal and an assist each and Victoria DeCoster dished out a pair of helpers in the lopsided win. Alaia Singh had the fifth Hebron tally.

Taylor Leech made the lone save in goal for the Lumberjacks in the first half. Louisa Ellis tended the cage in the second, but did not record a save. Kents Hill keeper Maddie Neal stopped six shots in the loss, during which the Huskies were outshot, 20-6.

With the win, Hebron advances to the MAISAD final on Saturday. the Lumberjacks will face Gould Academy, which defeated Hyde on Wednesday, 2-0. Gould is looking for its fifth consecutive conference crown, and will be facing Hebron in the final for the fourth consecutive year.

Hebron 11, Kents Hill 0

HEBRON — Hebron Academy’s boys’ soccer team continued its undefeated season with an 11-0 shellacking of Gould Academy in the MAISAD semifinals Wednesday.

The 14-0 Lumberjacks advance to face Kents Hill in the championship game Saturday.
