BATH — The Christmas spirit will fill the Chocolate Church Arts Center with the holiday sounds of Grammy-Award winning pianist Paul Sullivan on Friday, Dec. 2, and singers Annie and Marie Burns on Saturday, Dec. 3.
The church is at 804 Washington St.
Sullivan, a Maine native, will present “Christmas in Maine” to the accompaniment of flute, cello and percussion. He will express the heart and soul of Christmas with fresh arrangements of favorite old carols.
Sullivan’s musical journey reaches from the jazz clubs of New York and the pit orchestras of Broadway to concerts around the world with the Paul Winter Consort. Paul has played with a wide variety of jazz masters, from Benny Goodman to Tommy Flanagan. He has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy, the Boston Pops under both Arthur Fiedler and Keith Lockhardt; and worked as a musical director, pianist, and conductor for many Off-Broadway and Broadway shows. He played keyboards and shared the conducting duties for the original production of the musical Nine, which won a Tony Award for Best Musical.
The Burns Sisters sing their Celtic Christmas show alongside guitarists Bobby Sweet and Josh Pincus. They will sing original compositions and songs celebrating different cultures from around the world with one common theme: peace.
From Ithaca, New York, the Burns Sisters have been gracing the Americana and folk music charts in the U.S. and Canada for 20 years. They have shared the stage with folk legends, including Arlo Guthie, Tom Paxton, Pete Seeger, Odetta, Jimmy Lafave and David Amram. They have played venues from Carnegie Hall to the Grand Old Opry, and from hills of Northern Thailand to the hills of Clare, Ireland.
Both shows are $15 for advance tickets, $18 at the door. Tickets are available by calling the box office 207-442-8455 or purchase online www.chocolatechurcharts.org.
