LISBON — The School Committee voted 5-0 Monday night to approve a five-year capital improvement plan that includes upgrades at Philip W. Sugg Middle School and Lisbon High School.

Phase II of the plan involves replacing all univents and installing a heat recovery ventilator in the Sugg Middle School gym and installing a new boiler at the high school. Money would come from energy savings.

The committee also voted 5-0 to solicit bids for a three-year lease-purchase on a new bus for up to $84,300 in principal, and to purchase a replacement vehicle for the School Department for up to $12,000.

In other business the committee voted 5-0 to:

• Approve the Berlin City Auto Group Grant application for Jobs for Maine’s Graduates and foreign language technology at the high school in the amount of $3,500, and the Berlin City Auto Group Grant application for MacBook Pro for the high school Music Department in the amount of $12,000. The applications will provide more training and technical tools to students and encourage them to pursue engineering, science and the arts.

• Approve $2,944.34 from the Alfred Senter Fund for 31 ukuleles and related instructional supplies for the high school Music Department. The private charitable trust provides cultural and educational support to Lisbon and surrounding towns.

• Nominate co-curricular positions for the school year, including a basketball coach for seventh grade girls and one for seventh-grade boys; an eighth grade girls basketball coach at the middle school; a wrestling and varsity softball coach at the high school; a civil rights adviser and a drama coach, both at Lisbon Community School.

• Employ an educational technician I and an educational technician III at the Gartley Street School.

•  Adopt policies on student attendance, admission of foreign exchange and homeless students, and dropout prevention.
