HARRISON — There will be a Christmas concert featuring pianist Phil House and vocalist Kathy Haley at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church.
The two have been delighting audiences throughout central Maine as part of the Annual Summer Concert series at the Poland Spring All Souls Chapel, along with periodic appearances at the Sawyer Memorial and other venues.
House is the organist at the First Universalist Church in Auburn. He has recorded many CDs of his piano and organ music. He has made a life performing near and far, from his hometown of Bryant Pond to Nashville, Tennessee, and as far away as Vienna, Austria. His days are filled with his duties as an administrator for the John F. Murphy Homes.
Haley, of Danville, started performing early as a church organist, pianist and folk singer. From the late 1970s to the early ’90s, she was a lead singer with the top-40 dance band Good and Plenty. Today she’s one of the singers with the newly formed vocal band called The Girls of LA. She has continued her life as a church musician and is the current organist/choir director at Court Street Baptist Church of Auburn.
Attendees are asked to bring an unwrapped Christmas gift or monetary donation as the cost of admission. Proceeds will benefit the Economic Ministry in Salem Township to help families have a brighter Christmas. As part of the ministry, parents can pick out Christmas gifts for their children for free.
Refreshments will be served and the church is wheelchair-accessible.
