* Nov. 18: The Munchkin Daycare on the Backkingdom Road reported that sometime the previous night, forcible entry was made. Taken were cash and computer equipment.

* Nov. 18: A person reported that the previous night, a vehicle parked on Spring Street was broken into. Change and phone card were taken.

* Nov. 16: Mexico and Rumford police are investigating reports of three business break-ins that were reported during the morning hours, believed to be related, according to Mexico Police Chief Roy Hodsdon. Hodsdon said that during the overnight, someone, who was on foot, broke into Ta-Dah Hairstyling Studio at 55 Main St. in Mexico. Taken was a cash drawer and a wooden cigar box with an undisclosed amount of cash and change. Larsen’s Electric Service of 13 Main St. in Mexico was forcibly broken into by smashing a window, with money and three power tools taken. Gatch’s Food and Spirits of 137 Rumford Ave. in Rumford was forcibly broken into. Rumford Cpl. Lawrence Winson is investigating this break-in.

Hodsdon said police canvassed Cumberland and Falmouth streets, along with Oxford Avenue, looking for the suspect. They then went down a trail off from Falmouth Street toward the river, where they recovered two of the tools taken. The wooden cigar box was found in the river, with the cash missing. Unrelated was the recovery on the trail of metal welding plates.

* Nov. 15, 10:57 a.m.: Daniel Hatfield, 57, Rumford, was arrested on a warrant for a probation violation. There was no bail. He was taken to the Oxford County Jail.

* Nov. 14, 7:15 p.m.: Someone turned in a 22-caliber Browning pistol, found in Jack Steele’s field, to the Mexico Police Department. It was returned to the owner, a Mexico resident who had lost the pistol earlier in the day while hunting.

* Nov. 12, 4 p.m.: The Mexico Big Apple on River Road reported an unconscious female in a vehicle in the parking lot. Officer Justin Carter responded and charged Amanda Bourgoin, 27, of Mexico with operating under the influence. She was given a District Court date of Jan. 9.

* Nov. 11, 11:55 a.m.: A Middle Avenue resident reported an attempted burglary of the camper parked in the driveway. There was no entry, but there was damage to an outside door.

* Nov. 10, 5:38 p.m.: Lt. Dan Carrier arrested a 17-year-old Mexico boy on a warrant from juvenile probation for failure to appear. There was no bail and the youth was taken to the Long Creek Youth Center.

* Nov. 10, 12:46 p.m.: The River Valley Rec Center reported that during the night, a vehicle caused damage to the soccer field in the Mexico Rec Park by doing doughnuts. The gates were not locked at the time. Hodsdon said the vehicle tracks were not deep, minimizing the damage.
