FARMINGTON — Devaney Doak & Garrett Booksellers will participate in Indie’s First, a program started by author Sherman Alexie and the American Booksellers Association, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26.

The program was started to promote having authors work as volunteer guest booksellers on Small Business Saturday at their local independent bookstores across the country.

The authors will be recommending their favorite titles to customers and possibly gift wrapping.

Authors Chris Van Dusen, Jeffrey Thomson and Kristen Case will participate at the bookstore.

Van Dusen has been a beloved writer and illustrator of children’s picture books since 2000. Some of his books include “The Circus Ship,” “Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee” and “If I Built a Car.” In 2015, he won both the Children’s Book Award and the Katahdin Award.

Thomson is a poet, memoirist and translator, and is the author of multiple books, including “Fragile,” “Birdwatching in Wartime,” “The Complete Poems of Catullus” and “From the Fishouse.” He has been a National Endowment for the Arts fellow and a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar. He is a professor at the University of Maine at Farmington.
