RUMFORD — Elizabeth R. Palmer, 69, of Dixfield passed away Monday, Nov. 28, at Rumford Hospital following a long illness.
She was born in Kingston, N.Y., on April 12, 1947, one of 11 children born to John and Stanlight (Suski) Pirigyi.
Elizabeth was a graduate of State University of New York at Plattsburgh, graduating with a bachelor’s in nursing. She later went on to receive her master’s degree in business from Thomas College in Waterville.
Elizabeth was a nurse and director of nursing at Rumford Hospital for several years. She was also director of nursing for Androscoggin Home Health.
Elizabeth was also a traveling nurse having done assignments in Honolulu, Hawaii, Tucson, Ariz., Alaska and Seattle, Wash.
Elizabeth was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.
She loved going to the casino, traveling the world, working in her flower garden, volunteering in the public school system and the nursing profession.
Elizabeth especially loved spending time with her family and friends, and was instrumental in organizing family reunions.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Brian L. Palmer of Dixfield; a son, the pride and joy of her life, Burton L. Palmer and his wife, Eden, of Seattle, Wash.; sisters, Marlene J. Beatty and husband, Carl, of Keller, Texas, Linda M. Kanaley and husband, Shawn, of Rochester, N.Y., Helen J. Pirigyi of Saugerties, N.Y., Patricia A. Paddock and husband, Paul, of Roseville, Calif., and Julia A. Pirigyi of Kingston, N.Y.; brothers, Paul M. Pirigyi of Kingston, N.Y., and Richard W. Pirigyi of Kingston, N.Y.; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Francis and John Pirigyi; and a sister, Sandra Norton.
