A Lewiston mill operative, aged about 35, ran amock through Lewiston streets yesterday, and was subdued only after a battle with Frank Damren and Officers Breen, Ricker and Davis. He was placed in the padded cell at headquarters. No one was seriously hurt in the struggle in spite of the fact that the man carried a double-bladed knife. Little is known of him at police headquarters. He told the officials he had not touched liquor for some time and his appearance bore out this statement. He said he was subject to fits, but the authorities are inclined to ascribe his peculiar actions, Sunday, to religious mania. The man came here from Canada a short time ago and is said to have been employed at the Androscoggin mill.
