AUBURN — Police on Thursday closed a section of School Street between Goff Street and Union Street By-Pass due to a water main break.

Officials from the water department were sent to the area at about 3 p.m. A short time later, police were blocking off intersections and re-routing commuter traffic around the area.

There was no immediate estimate on how long School Street would remain closed.
