LEWISTON — The Woman’s Hospital Association Rotating Art Gallery is featuring paintings by Anita F. Poulin of Auburn and Shalimar A. Poulin of Augusta, a mother-daughter team, throughout the month of December.
The gallery is at 60 High St., the main entrance to Central Maine Medical Center.
The collection features landscapes, seascapes and plein air paintings that highlight the natural beauty of Maine.
Anita is a self-taught artist and proud Franco-American who has lived in Maine all of her life. Her artwork is influenced by the Pine Tree State and its four seasons.
“If an artist is patient, Maine offers painting opportunities beyond expectation,” she said.
She also teaches drawing, painting and Zentangle to adults at Hobby Lobby in Auburn.
Shalimar Poulin is an artist and educator with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and graphic design and a master’s degree in art education. She currently teaches art at Wiscasset High School. While teaching consumes much of her time, Shalimar looks to summers and shorter vacations for personal creativity. Much of her recent work includes house portraits, Maine sights, pet portraits, floral studies and landscapes.
This mother-daughter pair enjoys painting together, and they are building a body of work for local sidewalk art shows.
The artists’ works may be purchased through the WHA Gift Shop, located adjacent to the main lobby at CMMC. A percentage of sales proceeds benefits CMMC.
