BIDDEFORD — The Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill team came back from a late 3-0 deficit to earn a 3-3 tie against Biddeford/Thornton in girls’ ice hockey action Saturday evening.

Adri Roy scored the first Blue Devils (2-1-1) comeback goal 8:59 into the third period on an assist from Jordan Mynahan.

The Blue Devils pulled the goalie in the 15th minute and Roy scored on a pass from Anna Dodge and Mynahan converted on assists from Katie Lemieux and Roy for the game-tying tally.

Leavitt/Edward Little/Poland 7, Yarmouth/Freeport/Gray-New Gloucester 1

AUBURN — Leavitt/Edward Little/Poland routed Yarmouth/Freeport/Gray-New Gloucester 7-1 in girls’ ice hockey action Saturday.

Angel Drouin scored two goals for the Red Hornets in the victory. Saige Arsenault, Madison Simard, Mariah Vaillancourt and Taylor Callier added goals.

Katie Clemmer had Yarmouth’s only goal.

Boys’ Ice Hockey

Poland/Leavitt/Oak Hill/Gray-New Gloucester 5, Noble/Wells 1

ROCHESTER, N.H. — Drake Goupil had a natural hat trick as Poland/Leavitt/Oak Hill/Gray-New Gloucester defeated the Noble/Wells Knights 5-1 on Saturday evening.

Theo Mahaleris had two goals and assist in the victory.

Ashton Dozois made 27 saves for Poland/Leavitt/Oak Hill/Gray-New Gloucester.

Ethan Marsh scored for Noble/Wells and Matt Burham made 23 saves.

Girls’ Basketball

Lisbon 56, Hall-Dale 28

FARMINGDALE — Freshman Giana Russo drained a game-high 21 points to lead Lisbon to a 56-28 victory over Hall-Dale in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

Kaylin Le pitched in with 18 points and six steals for the Greyhounds (1-0).

Sabrina Freeman scored a team-high 10 points, while Ellie Dekker contributed another nine for the Bulldogs (0-1) in the losing effort.

Boxing

Local boxers fare well

BILLERICA Mass. — Cugno Boxing fighters fared well Friday on a fight card in Billerica, Massachusetts.

Cain Shatzer of Bethel defeated Dominic Seals of Lowell, Massachusetts, by TKO in the second round, while Omar Rivera of Brunswick and Travis Allen of Lewiston earned wins by unanimous decision over Ryan Kincaid and Khadim Alkhazaali, respectively.

In a close decision, Isaac Escobar of Lewiston fell to Jeremiah Perez of Lowell, Massachusetts.

Colby 55, Bates 54

LEWISTON — Malcolm Delpeche set a new Bates College record, but the Bobcats fell to Colby College 55-54 in a nonconference men’s basketball game Saturday.

Patrick Stewart’s three-point play with 0.2 seconds remaining lifted the Mules from defeat to victory.

Delpeche blocked three shots in the game, including one four minutes into the game that set the Bobcats’ career shot-block record.

Delpeche’s third block of the game nearly sealed the win for Bates. He rejected Colby’s Maximilian Steiner with two seconds to play, but the ball deflected right to Stewart, who heaved an off-balance shot that banked into the hoop. Stewart was fouled on the play and added a free throw.

The Bobcats (5-3) have a week off before facing Saint Joseph’s on the road on Sunday, Dec. 18.

Bowdoin 83, UMF 65

FARMINGTON — Jack Simonds scored 30 points to lead Bowdoin College over University of Maine at Farmington in men’s basketball action Saturday.

Simonds made 12 of 18 shots from the field. As a team, the Polar Bears made 53 percent of their field-goal attempts.

Issac Witham paced the Beavers with 12 points, and Riley Robinson added 10.

UMF (2-6) has three weeks until its next game, which is Saturday, Dec. 31, at home against Colby.

UMaine 73, Dartmouth 68

HANOVER, N.H. — Wes Myers led the charge in the second half of the University of Maine’s 73-68 men’s basketball win over Dartmouth on Saturday.

The Black Bears (4-6) outscored the Big Green 42-32 in the second half, and Myers scored 27 of his career-high 31 after halftime. Myers and Austin Howard teamed up to score Maine’s final 17 points.

Women’s Basketball

Bowdoin 76, Bates 43

BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College never trailed in its 76-43 women’s basketball victory over Bates College on Saturday.

Fourteen players scored for the Polar Bears, led by Kate Kerrigan’s 13 points, which she tallied in only 18 minutes.

Madeline Foote topped Bates with 11 points, and Bernadette Connors added 10. Allie Coppola grabbed 13 rebounds for the Bobcats.

Bates (2-5) is back in action Monday, Dec. 19 when it hosts WPI at 1 p.m.

UMaine 60, Dartmouth 55

BANGOR — Sigi Koizar and Laia Sole paced the University of Maine in a 60-55 victory over Dartmouth in women’s basketball action Saturday.

Koizar and Sole each scored 15 points for the Black Bears (5-5), who only turned the ball over 10 times.

UMaine’s Tanesha Sutton grabbed 10 rebounds, a career-high, and Blanca Milanhit nailed four 3-pointers and scored 14 points.
