BOOTHBAY HARBOR — Senior forward Cooper Chiasson drained a team-high 21 points to lead Dirigo to a 68-59 victory over Boothbay in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.
The Seahawks (1-2) jumped out to a 24-9 lead in the first quarter. But, the Cougars (1-2) pounced back in the second frame for a 36-36 halftime tie.
Sophomore forward Alex Gorham contributed 18 points, while Austin Campbell pitched in with 11 rebounds for Dirigo.
Senior forward Carter Babcock tossed a game-high 22 points for Boothbay in the losing effort.
Oxford Hills 61, Leavitt 34
PARIS — Senior guard Cole Verrier poured in 16 points as Oxford Hills sailed to a 61-34 victory over Leavitt in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.
The Hornets (0-4) executed a variety of zones in the first quarter to keep Oxford Hills off balance and take a 10-8 lead in the first quarter.
The Vikings (2-2) figured out the defense in the second frame and went on a 21-1 run for a 29-11 halftime lead. Junior guard Chris St.Pierre pitched in with 15 points on six field goals, including three from three-point range.
Senior guard Jack Sylvester paced Leavitt with 11 points in the losing effort.
Girls’ basketball
Oxford Hills 68, Leavitt 36
TURNER — Sophomore Jadah Adams compiled 16 points to lead Oxford Hills to a comfortable 68-36 win over Leavitt in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.
The Vikings (4-0) tore up the floor for 19 points in the first quarter, and took a 34-15 halftime lead. Senior Emma Davidson contributed 11 points for Oxford Hills.
The Hornets (2-2) were steered by junior guard Elizabeth Goulette with 14 points on four field goals and six free throws.
