TURNER — A heating source may have contributed to a Saturday morning fire that claimed the life of a 69-year-old man on Jordan Lane, investigators said.

However, since the home burned flat, the exact cause of the blaze may never be known.

John Jordan was found in the rubble of his burned-down home, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

It was believed two dogs also perished in the fire.

The fire was reported at about 2 a.m. Saturday on Jordan Lane, near Hannaford supermarket.

The house had several heat sources, McCausland said, but “because of the complete destruction, fire marshals continue to have a challenge of determining how the fire started.”
