OTISFIELD — A man and a woman were taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital Wednesday night for possible carbon monoxide poisoning, Fire Chief Kyle Jordan said.

They were found inside a home on Bow Street at about 8 p.m., officials said.

Jordan declined to describe their conditions, but said they were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Early reports were that the victims are a 44-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man.

Poisoning from carbon monoxide, produced in fumes from the burning fuel, typically involves headache, dizziness, weakness, upset stomach, vomiting, chest pain and confusion, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

More serious cases are treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which involves placing the victim in a chamber where 100 percent oxygen is delivered under high pressure.
