DEAR SUN SPOTS: I work with Fedcap Maine BTC, a nonprofit organization new to Maine, and we help TANF/ASPIRE persons get into the workforce. We would love to have the clothing being offered in Sun Spots 1/18/17 for those persons. I can be contacted at 207-333-1812. — Joseph Valecko, FedCap Employment Specialist.
HELLO SUN SPOTS: To the retired fellow looking for a place to donate his business wardrobe: I retired a couple of years ago and donated much of my wardrobe to the Men’s Wearhouse in South Portland. They take these donations, clean and refurbish them and then donate them to folks who are re-entering the workforce. This is great for folks who cannot afford a new wardrobe at the outset. Bonus, you get a receipt for tax purposes. Good luck. — No name, Lewiston.
ANSWER: Thank you both so much for sharing this information. It’s wonderful to have the option of giving to a great cause.
The person who wrote in with clothes to donate asked that their name be withheld, but it was a woman. According to the Men’s Wearhouse website, they collected women’s wear in 2016 as well.
Men’s Wearhouse also donates locally to nonprofits helping people re-enter the workforce. For more information about receiving donated work wear from Men’s Wearhouse for your nonprofit, email [email protected].

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to know if there are other people who suffer from restless legs. I have been bothered for years so I am wondering if others find help and what they do, as doctors don’t seem to know. Thank you. — No name, Lewiston.
ANSWER: According to the Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation, there are lifestyle factors that you could take into consideration, mainly diet and exercise.
The RLS Foundation recommends a healthy and balanced diet as well as checking your iron levels. According to studies, supplementing your diet with iron under the care and supervision of a physician could be helpful. They also suggest identifying and avoiding habits or factors that may exacerbate RLS symptoms like caffeine, nicotine, alcohol and refined sugar.
The RLS Foundation also recommends an active lifestyle for individuals living with RLS. One study suggests that regular exercise reduces the severity of symptoms by an average of 40 percent.
You can visit their website to see more of their recommendations at rls.org.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: A couple of weeks ago I was coming out of Marden’s when I met a woman and her daughter who were looking for a cage for their hamster. I have a really nice pet cage that’s in great shape. She gave me her name and phone number, and I told her I would call her, but I lost it. Hopefully, she is reading this. Please call me at 207-577-4144. — Vicky Westleigh, Lewiston.
