BYRON — Another search for a missing Byron man will take place Sunday morning, according to volunteer Barry Breton.
Derek C. Adams, 46, has been missing since Dec. 28 from his home at 38 Noyes Road in Byron.
Breton, who has volunteered his time to help with prior searches, said Adams’ family is organizing this weekend’s search. Volunteers are asked to gather at the Town Hall at 8:30 a.m. for a briefing. The search will being at 9 a.m.
He said 20-25 volunteers searched Sunday, but failed to locate Adams.
“We have a seasonal road about eight miles long that was passable at the time he was reported missing, the next day it was passable only by snowmobile. This is the focus area of the next search,” Breton said.
He said they are asking for volunteers with snowshoes and a pointed probe pole.
“If anyone would be able to bring a snowmobile with dog sled to haul people to and from the sections to search this would be helpful,” Breton said. “The snowmobile operator should wear a high visibility vest so the searchers can flag them down if they need anything.”
Breton said the community has been great with helping out with the search.
“So that the family can have some closure, we would like to continue the search before snow shuts us down.”
Adams is described as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with brownish-gray hair. He usually wears glasses, but reportedly did not have them or his daily medication with him when he left his home over three weeks ago.
