WEST PARIS — The Board of Selectmen agreed Thursday to include amendments to three ordinances on the March town meeting warrant.

The decision followed public hearings on each of the laws.

An amendment to the Notification of Intent to Build or Remodel Ordinance would ban mobile homes that are more than 30 years old from being brought into town.

Selectman Mike Grass said, “Banks will not make a loan on any mobile home over 30 years old.”

The amendment stipulates that mobile homes in place prior to the approval of the amendment will be grandfathered.

Another change to the ordinance would require anyone planning to demolish a building to file a written notification.

Town Manager Wade Rainey said, “We have had to abate taxes on houses that had been demolished because nobody came in and said anything.”

A revised Dog Control Ordinance is also going on the warrant for voters’ consideration. The ordinance was approved in 1969 and amended in 1981.

“This one is a little more modern,” Selectman Randy Jones said.

The new one gives an animal control officer the power to impound dogs found running loose or whose welfare is questionable.

Responsible Pet Care in South Paris is the holding facility for loose dogs.

The ordinance sets a fee the owner must pay to get the animal back.

Under the revised Special Amusements Ordinance, the permit fee would increase from $10 to $25. Rainey said permits have been issued for the American Legion, the Rustic Tavern and the West Paris General Store.
