Richmond 45, Rangeley 18

RANGELEY — Junior forward Sydney Underhill-Tilton dazzled with 26 points to lead Richmond to a 45-18 triumph over Rangeley in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Bobcats (15-0) put up a great defensive wall, keeping the Lakers (11-3) to single digits in every quarter. Senior guard MacKenzie Abbott contributed nine points for Richmond.

Junior forward Tasha Haley led Rangeley with nine points and three steals in the losing effort.

Westbrook 54, Leavitt 50

WESTBROOK — Westbrook bounced back from an eight-point deficit in the third quarter for a 54-50 victory over Leavitt in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

Senior forward Julia Symbol posted a team-high 17 points for the Blue Blaze (4-10) in a balanced attack. Sophomore forward Mikayla Van Zandt contributed 16 points, and sophomore guard Avery Tucker netted 13 points.

Senior forward Allie Belaire led the Hornets (6-8) with 17 points on six field goals, including five from 3-point range, in the losing effort.

Lewiston 44, Morse 21

BATH — Senior forward Morgan Eliasen garnered a game-high 10 points to lead Lewiston to a 44-21 victory over Morse in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Blue Devils (7-7) went on a 9-0 run to start the third quarter, and closed the frame with an 11-3 run. Junior forward Victoria Harris added nine points on three field goals and three free throws.

Senior guard Noa Sreden manufactured nine points on three field goals and three from the charity stripe for the Shipbuilders (3-11) in the losing effort.

Mt. Abram 48, Wiscasset 41

SALEM — Summer Ross led the Roadrunners with 18 points Friday in a 48-41 victory over Wiscasset.

Lindsey Huff chipped in with 13 points for Mt. Abram (8-6).

Hayhlee Craig had 15 points to lead the Wolverines (1-14). Maeve Blodgett added 11 points.

Gray-New Gloucester 48, York 38

YORK — A strong defensive effort in the second quarter helped lead the Patriots to a 48-38 victory over the Wildcats on Friday.

Gray-New Gloucester held York to one point in the second period as it moved away from a man-to-man defense to a half-court zone. The Patriots scored 15 in the quarter.

Izzy DeTroy had 14 points to lead the Patriots (13-1). Her output included going 6-for-6 from the foul line in the second quarter. Skye Conley added 11 points.

Nina Howe paced York with 13 points, while Allie Lauerson had nine.

Spruce Mountain 70, Maranacook 29

MARANACOOK — Alex Bessey had a game-high 29 points to lead the Phoenix to a 70-29 victory over Maranacook in KVAC action Friday.

Haley Turcotte also had a strong game, scoring 17 points, for Spruce Mountain (4-10).

Grace Despres led the Black Bears (0-14) with nine points, while Kaylee Jones had eight.

Hebron 54, Seacoast Christian 49

ELIOT — Franceska Halloran scored 27 points as the Hebron Academy girls’ basketball team held off Seacoast Christian 54-49 on Friday.

Halloran also had 11 steals and seven rebounds for the Lumberjacks (7-5). Eliza Quinones finished one basket shy of a triple-double, finishing with eight points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals.

Courtney Williams paced the Guardians (3-12) with 27 points.

Boys’ basketball

Lewiston 65, Morse 33

LEWISTON — Senior forward Desmond Jackson scored 14 of his 18 points in the second quarter during a 21-12 run, as Lewiston took a commanding 65-33 victory from Morse in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Blue Devils (3-11) continued their strong offense in the third quarter behind junior guard Ibn Khalid’s 12 points. Khalid tossed a total of 16 points and hauled down 12 rebounds.

Senior forward Dakota Freeman paced the Shipbuilders (3-11) with 11 points on four field goals and a free throw for Morse in the losing effort.

Gardiner 63, Oxford Hills 61

GARDINER — Gardiner erased an 18-point deficit in the fourth quarter and defeated Oxford Hills, 63-61, on Friday.

Issac Mcgee and Cole Heaberlin each had 13 points for the Tigers, while Cole Lawrence had 12 points.

The Tigers (8-6) went on a 31-14 run in the final quarter. Heaberlin and Lawrence were both hot behind the arc, as they each hit two 3-pointers in the final eight minutes.

Matt Fleming had a game-high 41 points to lead the Vikings (11-4). Chris St. Pierre had eight points.

York 71, Gray-New Gloucester 64

GRAY — Reid Hogan tabulated a team-high 17 points to lift York to a 71-64 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Wildcats (9-6) took a prominent 36-21 lead at the midpoint. Jackson McCarthy contributed 13 points for York.

John Martin compiled a game-high 22 points, highlighted by five 3-pointers, for the Patriots (7-7) in the losing effort.

Winthrop 62, Bootbay 47

WINTHROP — Three Winthrop players registered double-digit scoring, with Jacob Hickey posting 17, as the Ramblers dealt Boothbay a 62-47 blow in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Ramblers (15-0) captured a 29-16 halftime lead. Cam Wood posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Winthrop, and Garrett Tsouprake also had 10 points.

Kyle Ames collected a team-high 17 points for the Seahawks (8-7) in the losing effort.

Westbrook 37, Leavitt 29

TURNER — Sophomore guard Jeremiah Alado drained 17 points to lead Westbrook to a 37-29 victory over Leavitt in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Hornets (3-11) were leading 23-22 in the third quarter when Alado hit two back-to-back 3-point field goals, and the Blue Blazes (11-4) went on a 15-6 run to secure the game.

Senior forward D’Andre James pulled down 12 rebounds to go along with his three points, while senior guard Nick Angello produced a team-high nine points for Leavitt in the losing effort.

Richmond 66, Rangeley 33

RANGELEY — Four players hit double figures for Richmond on Friday as the Bobcats doubled up Rangeley 66-33 in an East-West Conference boys’ basketball matchup.

Matt Rines led all players with 15 points, including one from beyond the arc, for the Bobcats (13-1). Zach Small and Cody Tribbet added 14 each in the win, and Matt Holt chipped in with 13.

Kyle LaRochelle led the way for the Lakers (4-10) with 14 points, while Ricky Thompson added 10 more in the defeat.

Lisbon 62, Telstar 43

LISBON — Sean Scott was hot from beyond the arc for Lisbon in its 62-43 boys’ basketball victory over Telstar on Friday.

Scott hit five 3-pointers and led all scorers with 15 points. It’s the second time in the past week that Scott caught fire from deep — in last Saturday’s loss to Dirigo, he made six treys.

Johan Sautter added 13 points for the Greyhounds (8-6), while Tyrese Joseph had 12 and Henry Doyle finished with 11.

Tanner Wheeler led the Rebels (5-10) with 14 points.

Unified Basketball

Oak Hill 49, Edward Little 31

AUBURN — Josh Leavitt had 15 points to lead Oak Hill to a 49-31 victory over Edward Little in unified basketball action Friday.

Lee Mower had 14 points, and Devon Fournier had 12 for the Raiders (1-0)

Ben Dumont led Red Eddies (0-1) with 11 points and Carter Culleton had 10.

Men’s basketball

UMaine-Farmington 75, Lyndon St. 69

FARMINGTON — A big second half elevated the University of Maine at Farmington men’s basketball team to a 75-69 victory over Lyndon State on Friday.

The Beavers outscored the Hornets 50-39 after halftime.

Amir Moss had 15 points for UMaine-Farmington, and Tyus Ripley notched a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Lyndon State’s Xavier Colbert led all scorers with 20 points.

College track and field

Bates senior breaks 36-year-old record

BOSTON — Senior sprinter Allison Hill broke the Bates College women’s indoor track and field record in 200-meter dash Friday at Boston University.

Hill ran the 200 in 25.45 seconds, beating her previous best by a half-second. The previous record of 25.64 seconds, which stood for 36 years, was set by Donna Broadway in 1981.
