Hartford Board of Selectmen

Feb. 2, 2017

Hartford Town Hall

Superintendent visit

What happened: RSU 10 Superintendent Deb Alden visited selectmen to discuss the reconfiguration of the school district. Five towns voted to leave the RSU late last year.

What it means: The towns will remain part of the school district until June 30. The Reappointment Committee has been formed and each town will send three members. “The idea is our vote is weighted based on the fact that we have 12 towns and we will no longer have 12 towns,” Holman said. “We need to reapportion our representation.”

What’s next: Any resident interested in serving on the Reappointment Committee can stop in at the Town Office; that is the only slot that is still vacant. If Hartford needs another director on the school board, that person will be voted in during the election in June.

Employee evaluations

What happened: Selectmen discussed whether to hold annual employee evaluations. No decision was made.

What it means: Holman requested the item be placed on the agenda. She sees evaluations as a positive thing and a way for employees and selectmen to check in and discuss how things are going. Her idea is to meet with employees who work in and around the Town Office.

What’s next: Selectmen will discuss the idea in more detail at a future meeting.

What it means: The Road Committee met Wednesday, Feb. 1, to discuss the upcoming roads budget and wants input from selectmen and Road Commissioner Alan “Bim” McNeil.

What’s next: The groups will discuss the budget further at a later date.

Census info

What happened: During open session, Holman announced she received a packet from the federal government regarding the upcoming census.

What it means: She has been designated the point person in Hartford to make sure the information for the town is accurate.

What’s next: Holman said including reading the material, it is estimated to take 21 hours to complete.
