Joe Morris of Pownal presents the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society with the donations from his eighth birthday on Feb. 17, in Lewiston. Sitting with him is Abbey, who is seeking a home. Morris, a second-grader at Pownal Elementary School, asked for donations for the pets in lieu of birthday gifts. Party guests generously donated pet food, treats, toys and a cat scratching post to help with the care of the thousands of unwanted animals the GAHS helps each year.
