LIVERMORE FALLS — The Memorial Day Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 13, at American Legion Post 10 in Livermore Falls to plan this year’s Memorial Day parade, to take place May 29. American Legion Post 10 is at 17 Reynolds Ave. in Livermore Falls.

The committee also will coordinate the flagging of 1,700 veterans’ graves in 49 cemeteries in Fayette, Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls.

“The parade and the grave flags are a way to show all around we remember and honor all who have served or are serving in the military, but most importantly, those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom,” said American Legion member Donald Simoneau of Fayette.

The parade theme and who will be marshal must be decided at the meeting, he said, and invitations sent out “so we can have a great parade with your help.”

Simoneau wants people in the community to help plan the parade.

Between $300 and $600 must be raised for parade insurance. Simoneau said the committee must also decide on grave flags to order, grave flag holders and other needs for the parade.
