FARMINGTON — A former Florida man was arrested Thursday and charged with lying about his address after registering as a sex offender.
Maine State Police said Terrance Jozens, 61, listed an address on Zions Hill Road in Chesterville when in fact he was living in an apartment complex on Titcomb Hill Road in Farmington.
Franklin County Sheriff Department officials said Jozens is a felon and is prohibited from staying at Deer Crossing Apartments because of a policy that the property owner has in place.
Jozens had been released from jail Feb. 22 after an earlier charge of failing to comply with the sex registry. When he was bailed from the jail, police said, Jozens listed the Chesterville address.
A registered sex offender must notify law enforcement within 24 hours of moving to a new address. Jozens was released on $100 bail on the latest charge with the stipulation that he is not to return to Deer Crossing Apartments in Farmington.
In 2003, Jozens was convicted of lewd and lascivious behavior with a child in Bay, Florida. Police said he also has numerous convictions for failing to comply with the sex offender registry.
