WEST PARIS — Town Manager Wade Rainey told selectmen Thursday that he would like to have over a mile of Stearns Hill Road paved this summer.

He said he’d like to have it done “from the South Paris town line up to Cooper Lane.”

Bid requests will go out this spring.

At the request of Selectman Mike Grass and new board member Dale Piirainen, Rainey will send out bid requests for hot top and chip sealing.

Rainey reported receiving proposals from dealers for a new plow truck before he sent bid requests. The proposals range from $160,000 to $180,000 for a complete package.

Bid requests will be sent out soon.

The truck would be paid for with appropriations from this year’s town meeting and the Equipment Reserve Fund.

Rainey said the truck to be replaced is 17 years old “and we spent a lot of money maintaining it.”

He also reported that a house at 10 Church St. is on the market again. The price has been reduced to $25,000.

Rainey said he has received two calls from out-of-state realtors and a local person who may be interested in buying the property and tearing done the building.

“The place has mold, is completely vandalized on the inside and has not had a roof in years. The tarps last two to three years,” he said.
