LEWISTON — The Lewiston High School Centre Stage Ensemble with a cast of nearly 40 students will debut its spring performance of “Disney’s High School Musical” on Thursday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lewiston Middle School auditorium.

Performances will follow Friday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 25, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 for students and $10 for adults.

Based on Disney’s Emmy Award-winning TV movie and adapted for the stage by David Simpatico, Disney’s High School Musical transports audiences to East High and into the story of two clique-crossed lovers

It’s the first day after winter break. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. The pair breaks free from expectations and try out for the school musical, led by Ms. Darbus. When the school’s reigning musical diva, Sharpay, and her brother connive to schedule the play’s callbacks for the same time as Troy’s big game and Gabriella’s scholastic decathlon, the whole school works together to find a way to let Troy and Gabriella shine on stage

“Disney’s High School Musical” stars Dylan Avila as Troy Bolton, Mackenzie Richard as Gabriella Montez, Arissa Shaw as Sharpay Evans, Scottie Venable as Ryan Evans, Tasheka Timmerman as Taylor Mckessie and Brad Matthews as Chad Danforth.

Veteran local director Richard Martin is directing the production, with Darren Avery serving as the vocal director and Jenna Nelson is the musical director. The choreographer is Jake Boyce. Sarah Greaton is the stage manager, assisted by Tialyana Romero and crew of seven students. Paula Masselli is handling props and Karen McClure Richard is the costume designer. The house manager is Sheila Venable.
