After sweeping and picking up trash during Saturday’s Downtown Lewiston eARTh Day Community Art & Cleanup event, Rhyanna Larose of Auburn talks with other volunteers gathered at one of the trash drop-off locations in an empty lot off Lisbon Street in Lewiston during a light drizzle. Larose, a Occupational Health & Safety nurse and self proclaimed “science nut,” points out granite, quartz, feldspar and mica they found in the lot. She was not sure if they were from one of the foundations or bedrock there, but was certain they were core samples that were drilled during demolition or sampling for future construction.
