LEWISTON — Wayne poet David Moreau and Lewiston cellist Greg Boardman will collaborate this Wednesday at the Oasis of Music at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St., from 12:30 to 1 p.m.
Moreau worked in Lewiston for 27 years with people with intellectual and physical disabilities. His book of poems, “You Can Still Go to Hell and Other Truths about Being a Helping Professional,” is Moon Pie Press’s all-time best-seller. Garrison Keillor has read his poetry three times on National Public Radio’s “The Writers’ Almanac.”
Moreau is a performer who uses humor abundantly and seeks to tell stories that are understandable to everyone. This Wednesday he will focus on family, speaking poems for his mom, dad and children. But he will also probably throw in something about baseball and something about work.
Living in Wayne, Moreau takes his dog for a walk in the woods nearly every day. He is grateful to have Greg Boardman provide musical interludes and believes that poetry and music is a delightful combination too little used in our troubled world today.
The Oasis of Music, a venue open to all local artists and the public, is always free. For more information call 344-3106.
