FRYEBURG – Local painters Erik Koeppel and Lauren Sansaricq will walk guests through their exhibition, Recovering the American Sublime, at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at the Pace Galleries of Art.

The exhibition is in conjunction with 19th century landscape paintings of the White Mountains. The artists will share the stories behind the artwork, examine 19 century American landscape painting methods, and discuss their contemporary response to that movement, and its relevance today.

Admission is free.

The historic paintings in the exhibition are lent from the collections of the Jackson Historical Society and the Bethel Historical Society, as a promised gift of Randall H. Bennett. Many of the contemporary paintings will be available for sale.

The Pace Galleries of Art is in the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center at 18 Bradley St. Call the box office at 207-935-9232, or email [email protected] for more details.
