Buckfield meeting change

BUCKFIELD — Due to scheduling, the Buckfield Historical Society will meet at noon Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Buckfield Town Hall. The guest speaker will be Jean Hankins on “Persevering Records.” Everyone is welcome.

Veteran’s Day ceremony planned

MEXICO — A Veteran’s Day ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Mountain Valley Middle School, 58 Highland Terrace.

Rick Charette and band to appear

FARMINGTON — Rick Charette and the Bubblegum Band will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Bjorn Auditorium on the Mt. Blue campus.

There will be a 50/50 raffle and balloons. Tickets, cash only, will be sold at the door for $8.

Arts and Crafts Association meeting

FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Arts and Crafts Association has scheduled three fall meetings in preparation for its annual crafts fair.

The first meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Room 123 of the University of Maine at Farmington Student Center. Registrations for the fair will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a business session at 7.

An annual event for more than 40 years, the fair this year will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the student center.

Greenhouse wants used planters

RUMFORD — The Hope Association What-Not-Shop is asking residents to save their planters and donate them, so they can be reused in the Briar Patch-Greenhouse in the spring.

Free infant, toddler clothes

WEST PARIS — The First Universalist Church of West Paris Kid’s Korner collects and distributes free new and gently used clothing and other supplies.

The church, 208 Main St., is open the first and third weekends of each month: 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. Kid’s Korner will be open on Nov. 4, 5, 18 and 19.

In addition to infant and toddler clothes, expanded winter clothing needs include larger size winter coats, hats, mittens size 3 to teens; boys’ pants sizes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8; toddler and boys sizes 10 and up; girls’ pants, same sizes; winter boots in all sizes, girls and boys.

Sewing, craft group to meet 

OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Sewing and Craft Group meets from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays except the third Wednesday of each month at East Otisfield Free Baptist Church, 231 Rayville Road.

Members are a small group of women who bring their own projects to work on, although occasionally there are group projects.

PARIS — Paris Public Library congratulated Sarah Olson for winning the $30 book store gift certificate for her participation in the October Banned Book Challenge.

Olson’s survey was randomly picked by a patron from a pile of 127 surveys.

No November contradance

FARMINGTON — There will be no contradance in November. The December event will feature the Franklin County Fiddlers.
