I have lived in Lewiston nearly my entire life. I’ve made some of my best friends while growing up here,  and my family is deeply rooted in this community. Yet as soon as I graduated from LHS, I left. Why? I felt there was no future for me in Lewiston. The bleak and uninspired environment convinced me that making a life for myself in Lewiston was practically impossible.

Until I heard Ben Chin speak.

The difference between Chin and his competitors is that he understands what it truly means to love one’s community — admitting weaknesses and putting in the effort to fix them. His plans to support small businesses, combat the opioid epidemic, aid the impoverished and boost education all show that he has a deep love for our community.

If the future of Lewiston rests in Ben Chin’s hands, I might see a place for myself here after all.
