Santa’s Helpers begins in River Valley

MEXICO — Santa’s Helpers, which provides new clothing and toys to children up to age 12 and to deserving families each Christmas season, begins on Monday, Nov. 20.

Director Margaret McNeal said applications are accepted weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Wednesday, Dec. 20. Qualified people need to have their MaineCare cards when they apply.

Donations are appreciated and, if necessary, pickups can be made by calling 207-357-8772. McNeal said donated checks will be used to shop for items for the children. Checks can be sent to Santa’s Helpers, P.O. Box 14, Rumford, ME 04276.

Santa’s Helpers is located at 33 Roxbury Road, upstairs at the home of the Speck Mountain Church. Enter through the door on the Roxbury side.

Poodunck Snowmobilers to meet

DIXFIELD — The Poodunck Snowmobile Club will meet at noon Sunday, Nov. 26, at 32 Weld St. Members will discuss the Think Snow Dance and the Blessing of the Sleds.

All are welcome.

Three area snowmobile clubs are hosting the Think Snow Dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Rumford Eagles Hall. Stay Tuned will provide the music. It is a major fundraiser to help maintain the trails.

There will be an auction of pie, cake, cookie, needhams and other goodies at 9 p.m., also a door prize and a 50/50. There will be raffle tickets for three chances to win $100, drawn that night.
