LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women has announced its February programming. All morning programs are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The center will be closed Monday, Feb. 19, for President’s Day.
Plastic Canvas Crafts: Tuesday Feb. 6. Join the center for a craft morning using plastic canvas and yarn.
Chinese Medicine: From 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7. The center will host Lauren Breau, acupuncturist and herbalist, to talk about traditional Chinese medicine and how it differs from western medicine and can be a helpful compliment to it.
Peasant Pantry Cafe: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8. The cafe features one-pot sustainable meals from different countries. This month, the dish is African Peanut Stew with homemade bread. The meal is open to the public at no charge; donations are welcome.
Spa Day Give Away: Tuesday, Feb. 13. The center will provide trivia games to win fun toiletries, soaps and lotions.
What’s Cooking?: Wednesday, Feb. 14. The center will provide a Valentine heart healthy lunch.
Women’s Healing Arts Circle: Thursday, Feb. 15. The center will host Dr. Maryam Mermay as she leads a circle intended for women seeking to heal any source of grief through a life-giving and playful connection with the arts.
What’s Cooking?: Wednesday, Feb. 21. The center will host Heidi Audet of Chill Yoga in making chai energy balls.
Clothing Give Away: Thursday, Feb. 22.
Bingo: Tuesday, Feb. 27.
Art Van: Wednesday, Feb. 28.
February Birthday Celebration: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28. February birthdays will be celebrated.
A full calendar of events and descriptions of support groups is available at www.wisdomswomen.org. The center’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Fridays. All women are welcome; programs are offered free and no appointments are needed. Oatmeal breakfasts are available daily, and the center has a shower.
The center is also seeking volunteer applicants for companions. The companion role requires women to have a professional background in social work, teaching, nursing, chaplaincy or other related fields, and companions work with local women.
