Lewiston Police Officer James Avery uses a snare to secure a pit bull-Boxer mix trapped under a vehicle on Main Street in Lewiston near Whipple Street early Friday night. The dog darted into traffic, according to the driver of the vehicle involved. The dog’s owner, Jessica Carter, right, said Rico got loose from his leash in the neighborhood nearby. With help from the Fire Department, the car was lifted off the dog, who was walked to a police cruiser to be taken to the local animal hospital to be checked. (Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal)
